Arrival In Seattle

I lived in Seattle from January 2001 to August 2002. During most of that time I worked as a software developer for Amazon.com. My first job was in the Customer Service Applications Group. Our offices were in Pike Tower, downtown Seattle. I spent 2 - 3 months there during which time there was that famous earthquake.

Move To PacMed

Well my time in the trendy and spacious Pike Tower offices was not to last. Along with six other employees I was transferred to the cross-site functionality group. This entailed a move to Amazon's PacMed offices located in the Beacon Hill district of Seattle. It also meant a change from writing software for internal use only to (shock, horror!) actually working on the customer-facing websites.

Pigs On Parade

During the year 2001 hundreds of fibreglass pigs adorned the streets and public places of downtown Seattle. In September they were auctioned off to raise money for the Pike Place Market Foundation.

Discovery Park

Discovery Park is located in the Magnolia district of Seattle. When I was there I walked along South and North beach. In early 2001 I was very lucky to see a killer whale. Another time I saw a small snake. I think it was black with an orange spot.
